What to expect...

The ES412 and ES1080 Cleancut Shavers are clearly superior to all other pubic shaving systems, but it isn't perfect because the human body isn't perfect. Since pubic hairs are naturally curly they are more likely to tunnel right back into the skin after shaving. This is what causes in-grown hairs. The key to minimizing in-grown hairs is to cut them off at the right level. Hair removal creams and razor shaving both remove each hair at a level below the skin line. Creams accomplish this by dissolving the hair down into the shaft, while razors do the same because they pull the hair out to cut it, and then it springs back under the skin line. When hair that has been cut below the skin grows back, chances are good that it will grow off course and into the skin. This is even more true for curly pubic hair.

By contrast, the Cleancuts cut the hair flush with the skin's surface, drastically reducing the chance of an in-grown hair. Some folks may find that the growth angle of their pubic hairs is nearly parallel with the skin's surface, which will cause them to grow back into the skin afterwards. Even though these hairs were cut at the skin line, they grow out and immediately "curl" back under the skin. It all depends on the direction your hair grows relative to the skin and how curly your hair is. Everyone is different, some never have a problem, and some are continually plagued by ingrown hairs (however over time the condition lessens in most people.)

There are two ways to deal with these problem hairs. First you can pluck them (assuming you have a GOOD set of tweezers. This usually works well for most people, but sometimes when they eventually grow back the problem is even worse.

The option for really stubborn ingrown hairs is to let them grow for a day or so and then gently lift the end of the hair to the surface without plucking it. A good pair of needle point tweezers is invaluable for this as you reach under the skin and lift the hair (but don't pluck it!) It may try to grow back into the skin, but just continue to lift it daily. Soon the redness will go away and then you can shave it just like the other hairs. The secret is to not re-cut the hair until the redness has gone away. Of course you can likely prevent any problems from occurring in the first place by using our PFB Vanish or Bikini Saver products from the start. They also help speed the recovery of existing problems. Highly recommended.

Another important aspect of the Cleancuts is that they will not bite or nick you. You can safely shave anywhere. Some users, depending on their skin type and age, report that they find small areas of loose skin (skin tags, occasionally the "ridge" on the scrotum, etc.) where they will occasionally feel a pinch. By stretching the skin tight with the fingers, this can usually be prevented. It will amaze you the places the Cleancut Shavers will safely remove hair.

If you plan to keep your beaver clean-shaven, it is important to develop a daily routine. Once initially clean-shaven, the hair grows back rapidly and after 48 hours, there is usually a "porcupine" affect. It is considerably easier to touch up a day's worth of growth than to tackle it after two days.

The hair on the front of the beaver, right over the pubic bone, is the hardest to maintain in pristine condition. This hair grows nearly parallel with the skin, making it harder to shave and more prone to in-grown hairs. By contrast, the hair on the lips usually grows perpendicular to the skin so that it cuts and maintains easily and is less likely to have in-grown hairs. If you plan to leave a tuft on top and shave the lips, you'll really be pleased with the results. If you want it all off, expect to work a little harder and be a little more patient. The longer you stick with it, the better it looks. In addition, if you are planning a full shave or have previously had problems with in-grown hairs, seriously consider ordering some PFB Vanish. After using it ourselves, we have become true believers.
